Where: T U L U M , M E X I C O
Why: The Yucatan peninsula is as photogenic as it is rich in history and adventure. Tulum is my favorite town in this region of Mexico because it is so easy to step away from the tourists and into your own private piece of adventurer’s heaven. Tulum is also one of the most environmentally conscious and green committed cities in Mexico. Many of its hotel and resorts operate on solar power and have gone to great lengths to reduce their impact to the beautiful wild that is all around them. If you want specific suggestions for activities and sights, hit me up! I have plenty. When Drake LaBry and I arrived at our hut on the beach we opened the door, threw our bags in, immediately stripped down and ran into the ocean. The waves were warm and the sky was bright with countless stars. The entire trip felt like this kind of modern-gay Tom and Huckleberry adventure. From snorkeling in the reefs by Mayan ruins, blasting blood orange while driving through the tropical forest, cave diving in the cenotes, meandering miles of beautiful beach to sitting in our hammocks telling stories and drinking some drink I can’t remember the name of, this trip was never and could never have been anything less than perfect.
